Story
Shell Energy is proud to have chosen Macmillan Cancer Support as their Charity of the Year until December 2024. Help us raise essential funds for Macmillan’s services and support those affected by cancer.
Last April i was diagnosed with stage 3.5 colorectal cancer. Last year and up until February 2023 i was treated with chemo and radiotherapy. I was supposed to have an operation in late February to remove my anus and some tumours. However, a week before, they tested me and I had had a full clinical recovery. Meaning the chemo and radio had destroyed all my tumours. During this time, myself and my family received counselling and quality of life improvements such as Reiki sessions and advice on finances from the Macmillan Cancer Support people. This was the toughest time of mine and my family's lives. We really appreciate all the support we had from coworkers, Shell Energy and Macmillan as well as the Christie cancer hospital staff and friends.
So, running approximately 1 marathon per day for 4 days may seem far to you but it's nothing compared to the hardships we faced last year. Honestly, I'm also looking forward to the scenery and as i shall be wild camping, the opportunity for some me time and reflection. On the 5th day i plan to go up Ben Nevis, then get the train back to Manchester.

Hi guys n gals. Update: I’ve picked up an injury which is affecting my training and ability to get ready for this endeavour. So I’ve decided to postpone it until April or May 2024. Hopefully this means I can raise more money and be much fitter and capable of successfully achieving this goal.
