My daughter Nicole was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma (a nerve cell cancer) at just 17 months old. She developed this cancer on a nerve root from her spine and the tumour grew through the gaps in her vertebrae, compressing her spinal cord and paralysing her from the diaphragm down. On 8th Jan 2013 she had major spinal surgery where they removed as much of the tumour as it was safe to. she then went through chemotherapy. Thankfully she has had no signs of active cancer since may 2013, but still has care and mobility issues due to scar tissue on the affected nerve root. MacMillan nurses as well as those from other charities helped us a lot from the scan results when we were told our baby has cancer to long after treatment. We are thankful for all that they do, and I don't know how they are strong enough to do their job every day, they are the real heroes! Lets help out in this little way by doing what we enjoy for this fantastic charity.
