Due to Covid, I missed my bi-annual medical check ups with my GP and after lock down my next check up showed that I needed further investigations with an increasing PSA. I was then sent for a MRI scan which indicated there could be problems and subsequently a biopsy was necessary.
On 13 January last year I was sat in the consulting room with Mr. Kevin Turner when he confirmed that I had Prostate Cancer. I was then assigned to a fantastic team of Urology Cancer nurses to support me in coming to a decision on the various options available to me and helping with any fears or anxiety.
I decided to bite the bullet and have my prostate removed using robotic keyhole surgery (RARP) and on 1st June, I had the operation with a 2 night stay in hospital where I was cared for by wonderful NHS nurses.
Since then I had 2 PSA tests and given the all clear.
It is now time for me to give something back, and I am therefore taking part in the "March for Men" on 25th March and ask if you can contribute to my Just Giving page.
