I am a trustee and a mentor for This Way Up. This Way Up is a local charity which trains and provides pastoral mentors to teenagers in Solihull suffering loss through bereavement, divorce and family breakdown.

We know that This Way Up makes a big difference to the young people that we interact with; e.g. a Year 10 boy whose father had died and had been struggling with anger said how much he had valued the sessions, and ended up doing his English speaking and listening presentation on his dad's cancer journey.

Solihull schools pay a small annual service fee to This Way Up, but this only covers a proportion of our operating costs. The remainder is made
up by grants from charitable trusts and local businesses and by donations from local churches and individuals. 

We are pleased to have been chosen as a nominated charity by the Dorridge Fun Run. This means that any sponsorship gained by This Way Up will be matched by the organisers, effectively doubling any contribution that you make (on top of any Gift Aid, if applicable).
