Story
For the 7th consecutive year I'll be taking part in the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100. I've supported a number of different charities over those seven years for a variety of reasons. This year I have decided to support the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
I have never had the need to make use of the fantastic services that are provided by the air ambulance. However, given that I cover a few hundred miles a year on my bike and a few thousand miles a year driving on the Hampshire roads, there is always a chance that I may have reason to require their help.
As well as this, my employer is currently fundraising specifically to provide £50,000 in order to cover the cost of a new Critical Care Team vehicle which can get the HIOWAA doctors into areas that are difficult for the helicopter to reach.
See below for further information on what HIOWAA does...
Ordinary People. Extraordinary Care. Supported by you.Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance brings an advanced critical care team to people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight when they need it most. Highly skilled crews of Doctors, Paramedics and Pilots can be at the scene of an incident within minutes. It currently costs in excess of £15,000 a day to maintain our life saving service, and it is only thanks to the generosity of the communities that we serve that we are able keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.
