Story

During the lockdown period I’ve been trying to keep fit by walking along the local canal towpath, or exercising on our home treadmill. I’ve decided to take up the 2.6 Challenge from this coming Sunday, the London Marathon Day, by walking (not running I’m afraid) two miles every day until the 13th day when I will have concluded my own marathon. On my treadmill I can do the two miles in 22 minutes, but it takes a bit longer on the towpath because I have to watch where I put my feet as the ground can be rough and I have to pause occasionally to put two metres between me and passing dog walkers or cyclists. I’ll set myself the target of seven hours = 3.7 mph (that’s half on the towpath and half on the treadmill). Please sponsor me to achieve that and donate to Railway Children. £26 is what it currently costs us to supply an emergency parcel of food, oil and soap to a family in India that has lost all its income to the virus. It will feed them and help them stay safe by keeping clean for four weeks.
