On 3 April I am running the Manchester Marathon and have decided to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. We have sadly lost a number of friends to this awful disease in recent years, and a very close friend is, currently, fighting very hard, to extend his life, having been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.

My daughter, Mia, works as a volunteer at the CRUK shop in Strood, Kent and we have decided that we would like to raise some funds to help them CRUK continue in their outstanding work.

Whilst I understand that running marathons is something that I do 'for fun' and not, necessarily, seen by some as much of a challenge I am approaching 58 years of age and it's increasingly tough putting my ageing body through the training. 

But it is an excuse to try to raise much needed funds for a fantastic charity so would appreciate any donation that can be spared.
