I have signed up to compete with a Professional dance partner in the Hospice's 2023 Strictly Come Dancing fund raiser. The event takes place on Saturday 4th March at the Hilton hotel in Glasgow in front of a live audience, live orchestra and a judging panel that includes a professional judge form the BBC Strictly show.

My dance partner Kerry is young, fit, graceful, elegant and very talented - 5 things i am not, so this may be an even bigger challenge for her than for me!

I want to raise funds for the Hospice for a number of reasons the main ones being:

• We have a strong family connection with the Hospice and i have been able to support a number of events over the last 35 years.
  
• My mother in law was a founding Support Nurse when the Hospice was formed 40 years ago and served for more than 20 years.
• A close friend of mine sadly died last year and spent his last days in the Hospice. The care and support that he received was incredible as was the support for his family at the time and since.

The facilities and care provided by the Hospice are only possible as a result of the funds raised at events like this.
