We support people to help rebuild lives after stroke.

Story

Not so long ago a good friend of mine, my Brother-in-law / Best Man, suffered a Stroke. He was a fit and fun-loving family man in his early 50s. Now that life has gone.

After surviving the initial touch-and-go trauma and comatosation plus, 6 months of hospitalisation and repeated surgery, he is now back at home. However, he is wheelchair bound; cannot walk and is dependent on care 24/7 .

The NHS were fantastic in providing the emergency treatment and the initial after care he needed. However, this care is not offered forever. The hands-on work needed thereafter, to rebuild a person's life, lasts a lifetime. Rebuilding the neural pathway connections happens in micro-steps.

It is the Life after Stroke centre and the Stroke Association that help provide this care. Providing the facilities and staff with patience and knowledge and time, to facilitate these small, micro steps.

Stroke can happen to anyone. Any age; any gender; any fitness level. It is my aim in doing this challenge, to use what I am blessed with to give to those who have lost everything. To at least go someways towards helping them move towards the mountainous peak that is normality.

Please help by giving generously. Any amount.
