Story
After a year of sorting and arranging, I think it is time to
give a little back to the organisation that single handily help and supported the
family and Dad.
This is a Charity which is on our door step and has and will
continue to look after a number of us and our family members for years to come.
As you know I’m not really build for running but I like to
get out and give it ago. I have decided to run the Sanlam Coast Half Marathon on
the 3rd April 2022. To support he great work Nightingale House
Wrexham, provide and have help me and the family out recently.
I’m not asking for money off people but if you could help in
any way that would be great. Im looking
more to raise the awareness of what they do and how they may help you in many
ways in the future
On the 17th February 2021, My Dad Peter Walsh
passed away after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer 10 weeks Earlier.
Dad initially went to his GP in 2019 and with very little
help was told it was due to sitting on a plane for 24hrs traveling back from China.
Only in late September 2021 did I insist he used his private
health care and went for further investigates privately. 5th
December and the results where in and being told you only had 2 months in live
was a tough one to take.
There was very little support from the NHS prior to the diagnosis,
but once we had the news the Shooting Star Cancer Unit where Amazing.
Dad didn’t take kindly to his first Chemo treatment. Due to
this he was transferred to the Nightingale House Wrexham where he was looked
after for 3 weeks.
The staff were amazing and treated him and the family has human
amazingly. They fed, cleaned and administered his medication. They also organised
for him to come back home with the family, where he stayed until the morning of
the 17th Feb. Dad deteriorated and again was taken back to Nightingale
House Wrexham.
This time he was in a bad way, but the team looked after him
and made him relaxed and comfortable. After a few hours back, bags not unpacked
he peacefully passed way.
