Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Sunday 12th June I will be taking part in the Cairns Ironman. When i slog through the 180km bike leg, I'll be willing my speedometer higher towards the sort of speeds my mate "Aussie Dave" Adcock clocks up - as well as being a good mate, he's a very good cyclist. On January 13th this year Dave came off his bike at high speed just after Spit Brdge riding to work. It still not clear what happened, but Dave spent 3 days in an induced coma with life threatening injuries, 2 weeks in ICU and another 2 months in Rehabilitation he finally returned home. Having seen first hand the physical and mental trauma Dave has overcome, I'm eternally grateful to everyone involved in his recovery. As a fellow cyclist I understand how vulnerable you can feel on the roads and feel compelled to do something to support the Amy Gillett Foundation in it's mission to eliminate cyclist serious injuries and fatalities. This comes at a symbolic time - as well as starting back at work this week, Dave went on his first ride this week - a milestone I never thought I'd see when I saw him tied to a chair for his own safety and rambling in ICU in January.
