Story

I have recently become President of Poole Rotary Club and during lockdown we have used most of our reserve funds in supporting both local (UK) and International charities. This has left our funds very low as our normal fundraising methods have been curtailed by recent lockdowns.

To raise money I will be walking up Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon over the course of three days in October (weather may change the date!).

100% of the money I raise by carrying out this challenge will go to several charities, but principally:-

  • Poole Mens Shed - Men’s Sheds are community spaces for men to connect, converse and create. The activities are often similar to those of garden sheds, but for groups of men to enjoy together. They help reduce loneliness and isolation, but most importantly, they’re fun. Poole Men's shed members also lend a hand to do odd jobs for disadvantaged people so helping men's shed enables them to help others! Find out more at https://www.menssheds.org.uk
  • RGBI Disaster Recovery Trust - this is a Rotary organisation that provides grants to assist with the rebuilding of community infrastructure projects (recent example a club house for RNIB in Wales) following natural disasters such as flooding, earthquake, wildfires etc. Find out more at https://www.rotarygbi.org/projects/disaster-relief/disaster-recovery-trust/
