87km by my 87th birthday! · 12 May 2020

The Friends at Broomfield Hospital provides a range of services to the hospital including a newspaper trolley service, library and of course the "Hospital Shop". All of these services are organised and run by volunteers, and all profits are given back to the hospital to purchase equipment.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Until lockdown I volunteered for Friends at Broomfield Hospital. Once a week for the past three years I would take the trolley service around the wards with my friend Dave and offer snacks, drinks and newspapers to whoever was in need. I loved these hours as I got to chat with lots of people including the lovely nurses! I will be honest I have rejected the idea of going back as I am frightened of the current situation. I am nearly 87 after all!

Inspired by Captain Tom, I wanted to continue doing something for the charity. I have been walking around the retirement home in which I live for the past few weeks. I have found that 1km is about 8 laps! I would like to walk 87km by my 87th birthday on the 31st July.

If you would like to donate I would really appreciate it, but I know that my 'Friends at Broomfield Hospital' will appreciate it more.

Thank you so much.
