The Lyke Wake Walk · 26 September 2014

It was established in 1893 to help the stray and unwanted dogs roaming the streets of Manchester. Later covering parts of Lancashire, Cheshire and Derbyshire, today it remains the only Home of its kind, caring for over 3000 dogs each year. Over 95% of dogs are Homed or re-Homed

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Next Friday, 26th September I will be tackling the Lyke Wake Walk: a 40 mile challenge hike across the hills, heather and bogs of the North Yorkshire Moors.  I have done this walk previously but this time will be attempting the more challenging reverse crossing, from Ravenscar to Osmotherley.  The walk is fairly gruelling at the best of times, especially if the weather isn’t favourable, and the forecast doesn’t look good!  I’m aiming to complete the hike in 15 hours or less.

I have decided at rather short notice to use this challenge to try to raise some money in aid of the Manchester Dogs Home, to assist their recovery following the fire that tragically destroyed the home, killing 60 dogs.

With many thanks in advance for your generosity.
