People who are homeless are hit especially hard by the coronavirus outbreak. But together we can get vital care to vulnerable people.

Story

It's hard to protect yourself from the coronavirus outbreak when you're homeless. People who are sleeping rough are more likely to suffer from respiratory conditions. They cant wash their hands. And if someone is sleeping rough or in a crowded night shelter, it's impossible to self-isolate.

Myself (50) and Peter (59), along with help from Amanda, are raising vital funds to support Crisis in their work to help homeless people.

We're taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge and we're pushing to do this in 24 hours. The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064m (10,052ft). Part of the 24-hour challenge will be to climb the three mountains, partly in the dark of night.

We shall be driving to Ben Nevis (Scotland) where the challenge will start. We shall be climbing to the peak of the mountain then returning to the vehicle where Amanda will then drive the six hours to Scafell Pike (England) which Pete and I try and get a little sleep. We shall climb to the peak of Scafell Pike and return to the car again whereby Amanda will then drive us to Snowdon (Wales). We shall climb and return to finish the challenge.

The recommendation for this challenge is to take three days. We're pushing to do this in 24 hours.

We have both got a lot of training to do get ourselves into a position to take this on and considering that we are climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, with mountainous terrain, partly in the black of night, this won't be easy. I personally need to lose three stones in weight which means on average 3 hours of training per day.

However, we are determined to do this and any gift, big or small, will make a difference at this time of crisis.

Thanks
