Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·
A year on and I am officially addicated to running. I am seeing a doctor for this condition as I was convinced that once I got past the "I know I can do it" phase all motivation would disappear but this is not the case - such is life.
but the challenge this year is a bigger one - specifically, its 57 years old, 13 stone and once told he looked like Tom Cuise. Yes - Tony Cronin senior is running the marathon.
Now, you may think it is him you should be sponsoring, and it is a good cause don't get me wrong (he is running for SENSE) but when making your decision please consider this:
- it me who has to feed and water him whilst he runs - he's averaging 2500 calories per 15 miles so we carry a small pic-nic en route with us when training
- its me who has taken the flack from my mum for putting him through this (he has been difficult to live with to say the least!)
- its me who gets up at 6am on a saturday morning, normally hungover, to eat breakfast then drive to Steeple Claydon for our early morning training runs of 3 hours + with a father who has consumed, for breakfast, a cocktail of knee pills and running books
and like all great challenges, wouldn't have it any other way! Am proud of the big fella (who is now a much fitter and lean fella) but more proud of the charity, Lupus, which I am running for once again. I've said it before but its worth a re-cap - Lupus is an immune system illness. The charity is a small one which suports thousands of people in the search for a cure to this life threatening and debilitating illness. Anything you can donate makes a big difference - it actually does.
So for entertainment and for others, please donate now and give generously.
Thank you
David
