Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Well can you believe it!! Claire completed the London Marathon on my behalf in 7.07 last Sunday. Why oh why oh why?
Well on Saturday I got hit down by a virus which took my temperature up to 40c and into a horrible fever. After the emergency doctor came out and told me I had 'no chance' of running it slowly dawned on me that the doctor may well be right and I would not be getting out of bed at 7am the following morning and the chance to defer had passed, the timing could not have been any worse.
Claire seeing how upset I was as firstly I could no longer run for BHF and in memory of Lisa and secondly as I had trained so hard for 4 months decided she would walk round for me. Crazy? Mad? Delusional? yes all of the before mentioned!
However, 7hours 7 minutes later she walked over the line. Two days on she is still aching all over, has a dodgy hip, dodgy lower back and has two black big toe nails which will most certainly fall off, the sacrifices you make!!. Claire's reaction to the toe nails ...... 'what about them looking pretty in Majorca?' well you can always buy some stick on ones!
Well what can I say about Claire, to make the decision to take over from me 10 hours before the start with no training and being the least sporty person I know is truely amazing. Claire you have made me so very very proud of your effort and the love and dedication that you have shown. We truely are a great team and the team effort you put in on Sunday was inspirational to us all.
Now just a reminder as to why the BHF, dig deep for Claire's amazing effort:
Well the reason and choice was a simple one. As many of you know on 16th December 2002, 16 days after my marriage to Lisa, she tragically died of a rare heart condition called 'Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy' a condition which had previously been diagnosed as having a minimal impact on not only Lisa's lifestyle but also on her life expectancy.
I would therefore like to raise some money for BHF to help fund the already excellent research that they conduct into the disease and in doing so I hope that my small contribution may prevent others having to live through the aftermath of such a tragedy as I did.
All that is left to say is a big thank you for sponsoring me, remember that I do not have a target therefore £2, £5, £10 whatever you would like to donate will be gratefully received (go on push the boat out make it twenty!).
