Story
We sadly lost my Granny May at the end of February this year. While it was not due to dementia, it was something she had been living with for several years, with the majority of the responsibility been taken on by my Mum and Dad who kept her spirits high with typical Northern Irish humour through the struggles of loosing her memory.
We were lucky to be able to say goodbye before the major onset of the COVID-19 crisis. This has effected us all, but I can only imagine how difficult it currently is for those living with dementia and to the family and carers whose interaction is so important to those in need.
June was meant to be the month myself and my cousin travelled to Scotland to cycle the famous North Coast 500 route - and while I know this will happen again some day - the opportunity to cycle the same distance (and maybe even more!) while doing it for a good cause is the least I can do for people needing help and support at this time.
So between 1st - 30th June I aim to cycle 500 miles for the Alzheimer's Society.
