Story
As many of you know, I work for Fairtrade, so let's clear one thing up straight away - no I am not asking you to donate towards my salary!
I am raising money for the Fairtrade Innovation Fund - something very different....
Fairtrade is a lifeline to millions of people across the world, but there are many millions more to whom the benefits could be extended if only they could be part of it too.
The Fairtrade Innovation Fund does exactly this - it provides support to those outside Fairtrade to be able to participate. It brings the security of better working conditions and a sustainable income to those that arguably need it most.
My bike ride from Land's End to John O'Groats will involve me taking some 300,000 pedal revolutions and I would like to think that each one is a step towards supporting the fund. My target of £3,000 represents a penny per revolution so please help me keep turning those pedals by giving as generously as you can.
We estimate that it costs about £150 to bring a new participant into Fairtrade which means that if I raise £3000 that's twenty more families being given the opportunity to work their way out of poverty.
960 miles... in 9 days...300,000 pedal revolutions... That's a lot! The thought of it is making me saddle sore already!!! A penny per revolution is my target but it would be great to better that - please give what you can.
Many thanks.
