David Moodie rows for The Soldier's Charity · 6 November 2010
David Moodie, Managing Director of AD Merchandise will be rowing the marathon distance (26 miles, 385 yards) for the worthy cause of The Soldiers’ Charity on Saturday November 6th.
A regular at Stafford’s Esporta health & fitness club, David has been attending the gym for over five years, but couldn’t resist the challenge of undertaking a marathon-length rowing machine session in order to raise money for The Soldiers’ Charity. He was keen to pursue marathon rowing as it seemed an original, demanding and challenging way to support such a good cause.
“Having seen the harrowing images of soldiers returning from Afghanistan of, men and women with with serious injuries and having having lost limbs, I was compelled to help their plight.”
The charity helps both serving soldiers and veterans, offering a life time of support for them and, if needed, their families. As well as offering an immediate lifeline to those who have fought to defend us and our country, The Soldiers’ Charity constantly researches the best ways to give medical, technical and financial support so desperately needed.
For 66 years The Soldiers’ Charity has been helping current and retired soldiers and with a 30% rise in applications over the last 2 years they need your support now more than ever.
One of the 4000 people currently being helped by The Soldiers’ Charity is Corporal Andy Reid who offered these words of thanks to the charity- “I’m grateful for the help that I’ve received. I couldn’t get into my home until the adaptations were done and The Soldiers’ Charity did the work in about 10 days”. Read more about Andy Reid at http://www.soldierscharity.org/how-we-help/andy-reid
