19/10/08 - Well I did it!  In fact the whole team did it.  What an experience the exhilaration at the top, the cold in camp at night!!  Thank you all for your support - you can see the total I've raised above and I've been overwhelmed - £25,000 will make a massive difference to the kids in Ghana.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!  In October I am climbing Mount Toubkal.  At 13,700 feet (!) it's the highest mountain in North Arfrica.

My good friend Alistair Turner asked if I would join his quest to raise money for Afrikids who help underprivileged children and their young mothers in Ghana.  Once I saw their work it was easy to say yes.  You can see how Afrikids makes a difference by visiting www.Afrikids.org and if you do look out for projects Operation Smiles and the Ecolodge as we're supporting them.  Note the "Fire Festival" and its all too obvious consequences - it's what convinced me to help.  You can even see a short documentary about Afrikids on YouTube.

I'm training hard, I've lost a stone so far this year (a stone less to cart up the mountain!) and I'm determined to meet the physical challenge - Afrikids and the children they help need the support.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Afrikids will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.  The good news is that we have paid all all of the costs of the trip ourselves so every pound you donate will go straight to Afrikids and the children.
