Find Your Feet is a small organisation working in remote areas of India, Nepal, Malawi and Zimbabwe. We enable poor rural families to grow enough food so they don't go hungry, to strengthen their voice so they can speak out against injustice and to earn enough money so they can find their feet.

Story

We have some terribly sad news.  David Williams was hit by a car on only the second day of his cycle ride in America.  He fell unconscious immediately and died shortly afterwards in hospital.

This page is an opportunity to pay tribute to, and celebrate David's life. As he was a keen fundraiser and active supporter of Find Your Feet, David’s family invite you make a donation in memory of all he achieved and loved.

Thank you for your support both towards David and his family, and for the families in India and Malawi who you are helping to build a life free from poverty and hunger.

This is how David described his plans for the trip before he set off.

As most of you know by now, in summer 2011 I'll be cycling from Los Angeles to New York. I've done some long rides before, but this is my longest trip yet, so I'll be pedalling 100 miles a day for 4,200 miles. I have a few rest days planned, to see places like Yosemite National Park, the Grand Canyon and Washington DC, but I have to earn these rewards by struggling over mountain ranges including the Rockies, sweating through the deserts of Arizona and New Mexico, and Death Valley, the hottest place on earth. Then there are the wild bears . . .

If you want to find out more about my trip, visit http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=RrzKj&doc_id=8226&v=J  I'll try and update this site regularly throughout the ride, and pop up a few photos of me and my bike to let you know how I’m getting on.

If you would like to donate a few pounds in appreciation of my efforts, I have decided to support a charity called Find Your Feet. My mum works for this charity, so I hear a lot about their great work in India and Malawi, where they support long-term, sustainable rural development projects. To find out more visit http://www.find-your-feet.org

All the money you donate will go straight to the charity coffers. I'm self-funding the whole trip so you will NOT be contributing to my new bike and holiday fund (although if you would like to please get in touch :)).

Thanks for your support,

David
