Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page

My name is Davinder (you might know me as Binda), I am originally from East London and have now settled with my family in Birmingham.  I have a background in construction and now work at Anytime Fitness.   In my spare time I love going to the gym, outdoor activities, organising fundraisers, spending time with friends and family - and I must not forget veggie burgers + pizza :)

MY CHALLENGE: KILIMANJARO

A few months ago, I committed to the #NishkamChallenge Kilimanjaro trek - climbing the largest free standing mountain in the world.  Some people say that I am crazy, but I am doing this for a very important reason - to help raise funds to support mothers and babies in Kenya.  Guess what - I NEED YOUR SUPPORT.

They are trying to raise funds for maternity ward in the Kericho District Hospital in Kericho, Kenya - this got me thinking and I wanted to help them.

THE PROBLEM:

Kericho District Hospital is in the heart of the community- it desperately needs new facilities and equipment.  I was shocked to learn that babies and mothers die in this hospital as they do not have proper facilities.

As a parent in the UK, there is lots that we take for granted - I was shocked to learn about the issues that the Africans have to deal with.  I mean babies and mothers die for things that we all take for granted in the UK - I was heartbroken and felt that I want to get involved to help these people.

WHAT AM I DOING ABOUT IT?

Well, as I mentioned, I am committed to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and am doing LOTS of training to make sure that I successfully complete this challenge.

Previously, I have also climbed:
  • Three peaks challenge - the three tallest mountains in the UK in 24 hours!

  • On 11/09/2016 I climbed Snowdon - highest mountain in Wales

  • On 22/09/2016 I have climbed Scafell Pike - the tallest mountain in England

And in the coming weeks I am doing MANY more climbs.

This page has launched my fundraising campaign - WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
