Every day 18 people in the UK take their own life. And suicide in the UK is increasing, with deaths by suicide rising by almost 12% in 2018, a 16 year high. Despite this, effective, ongoing suicide support is hard to find.The Listening Place meets this need through free, face-to-face, non-judgemental, confidential suicide support. Support is delivered by highly-trained volunteers and continues for as long as someone needs. We have a long-term plan to expand across London and eventually offer support to every suicidal person in the capital. 

I am taking part in the Hackney half marathon to raise money for TLP, in order for it to continue to provide the vital support for individuals that need it most. The event is also a great opportunity to bring the topic of suicide into our collective awareness.
