Story
We are trying to raise money for Bristol Children’s Hospital PICU though Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal.
My daughter, Emmie, was born in March 2017 and spent 5 months at the hospital, four of those months were in the intensive care (PICU). Whilst we were in PICU we were blown away by the level of medical
care that she got. We were also pleasantly surprised and moved by the care and time taken by the staff, especially the nurses to ensure that we, as parents were informed and coping. It was due to their excellence and diligence that Emmie ever got well enough to come home; she is doing fantastically well now.
Bristol PICU is the regional centre for intensive care for children ranging in age from term newborn infants to 16 years of age across all subspecialties for the South West of England (Bath, Gloucestershire,
Wiltshire, former Avon area, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall); including
paediatric cardiac intensive care for children from South Wales. This means if you live in one of the above areas, if your child, or one close to you was to get critically ill, including trauma cases, they would be transported to, and cared for in Bristol PICU.
