Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A year ago I set myself the challenge of cycling LEJOG over 3 weeks starting on 11th August 2018. I've had a brilliant time learning how to ride safely on roads, discovering new parts of the country and meeting some fantastic people.
I wanted to use my challenge to raise money for a charity and have chosen Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team. They are a local organisation who provide a 365-day Mountain Search and Rescue service in rural and urban districts of Lancashire and beyond, assisting other teams, Lancashire Police and the Ambulance Service.
Requests for assistance include searching for elderly, confused or potentially suicidal people, searching snow-bound roads for stranded motorists and most recently, assisting firefighters battling the devastating moorland fires.
It costs about £40,000 a year to provide the service which is run entirely by volunteers. One of the volunteers, Andy Greenwood, is the vehicle and access officer. He is a very dear friend of myself and known to many of you.
