This will be my first ever marathon which I am running in memory of my Uncle Jimmy, who had a marathon life, sadly passing away on 18th January at the age of 90.5.  He loved life and was laughing right up to the end.  We'll always remember his smile and laughter with his family.

I have been lucky enough to be given a place to represent Beanstalk.

Beanstalk is a national children's literacy charity that has been working for 45 years to provide one-to-one support to disadvantaged children who struggle with reading. Last year, they recruited, trained and provided ongoing support to nearly 4,000 dedicated volunteers (from our partners and their customers) who delivered impactful reading to support over 13,000 children.

In 2019, as part of the partnership that McCarthy & Stone, the five star retirement housebuilder, has initiated with the charity -- I will be taking part in the Virgin Money London Marathon to raise as much money as possible for this amazing cause. This is a great cause, and I'm very delighted to represent my company to this end.

This initial target would not only enable Beanstalk to help around 1,000 additional new children learn to read, but also support 300 more children through inspiring Story Reader Days.
