Brighton & Hove Speak Out provides advocacy for adults with learning disabilities. We run a range of projects which support people to express their views and have control over their lives, understand and claim their rights, access the services they need and participate in their communities.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Speak Out has been an independent advocacy charity in Brighton and Hove since 1994. They make sure that people with learning disabilities can speak up and take action about the things that matter to them.

The Challenge: We start walking in Richmond, London on Sat 23rd May morning and keep going till we get to Brighton racecourse sometime in Sunday 24th. 100k on and off road

The Charity: speak Out provide advocacy services, which means we listen to people with learning disabilities and work with them to express their views, have control over their lives and be an active part of the community.

We do all sorts of things including a twice weekly drop in where people can come for immediate advocacy and Information, a number of self- advicacy groups including the Being Heard in Government group - where we encourage people to get involved in democracy, The Thumbs Up project where we train local businesses and service providers to engage with people with learning difficulties in a positive way.  1:1 Advocacy, Citizen Advocacy, we have a Community Connecting project and a number of Advocacy groups.

We give advocacy support to people in all sorts of situations, anything from employment, benefit, support and accommodation issues to domestic violence.

Please help us keep everything  going and do even more!

Thanks
