Centurian Challenge · 29 September 2020

Each year, the Lord Mayor choses one or more local charities to support during their year of office. For 2025-26 The Lord Mayor has chosen to support two local charities, St Luke's Hospice Plymouth and Children's Wishes Plymouth.

Story

I have two special friends both living with Dementia and when Lord Mayor Cllr Chris Mavin asked me to manage his chosen charity ‘Memory Matters’ I jumped at the chance with those special people in mind.

Life is hard living with Dementia but the Coronavirus Pandemic has made it so much worse due to the ongoing social isolation. This has not only accelerated the progress of symptoms but it's made the day to day management and care of dementia so much more challenging.

I’m thinking if those living with dementia can do what they do everyday then I can easily run a half marathon (oh my goodness did I just write that)!!!

Yes I did - I will run 21.1k (13.1 miles) for the Lord Mayors Charity. Please help me in my bid to support Memory Matters.
