Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for my trek in October to Machu Picchu, which I am raising money for The Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund.
The MDIRF, which was founded 1988, supports people who have suffered an injury and where other relief is inadequate or unobtainable and they have nowhere else to turn. Helping those from all walks of life and irrespective of whether an accident has happened on or around horses at home or at a riding event. It doesn’t matter if you or your family just ride for fun, you work with competition horses, you compete or look after horses and don’t ride. Anyone who is suffering or has suffered from a horse related accident could qualify for assistance to improve or maintain their quality of life. There are an average of two people a month left paralysed from a horse fall and many others are left permanently disabled through severe head injuries and there are just as many dangers to be faced whilst handling horses from the ground too. Everyone of us who is lucky enough to remain injury-free would acknowledge that it could all too easily be ‘us’ next time. That is why all those who ride and look after horses need to ’stick’ together and support The MDIRF which helps those who have been less fortunate. It is the only charity in the UK which helps ALL riders from leisure to competition at any level. Many people have family members, children or knows someone who rides or is around horses, so please support this worthwhile equestrian cause!
