Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be running the Snowdonia Marathon on the 10th July 2022. Ascending 1685 metres over 27 miles of iconic and spectacular trails, this epic event will circumnavigate and eventually climb Wales' highest mountain peak, Snowdon.

This is going to be a challenge for me as my usual runs are about 6 miles, although I have completed 2 half marathons in the past.

In April 2021 my mum was taken into hospital after feeling ill for a couple of weeks. After a couple of days in hospital she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. She seemed to be responding well to the treatment she was having but unfortunately she was fighting infection after infection and the doctors decided to make the heart breaking decision to stop her treatment. She was moved to Telford Severn Hospice where the care she was given was amazing. At 10pm on May 10th (after only 3 weeks from being diagnosed) my mum passed away peacefully with my dad, brother and myself by her side. She was only 68 years old and left behind her husband of 51 years, 2 sons and 6 grand children who all loved her and miss her very much.

I am doing this event to help support Leukaemia and Myeloma research UK in they mission "to prevent people dying from blood cancer through more effective treatment in the future ."

If you can make a donation however small to help this charity in their mission, hopefully many lifes could be saved in the future and families won't have to live with the loss of a loved one as we have.

Thanks so much for your support
