Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Mesothelioma is a rare form of lung cancer, accounting for only 1% of all cancer deaths. The rudimentary treatment protocol has not changed in over 20 years despite major advances in immunotherapy, gene therapy and any number of other cutting edge treatments that have benefitted patients with other forms of the disease. I am raising funds in an effort to help patients get access to new treatments/trials and the medics leverage new ways to improve the prospects of Mesothelioma patients.
I have not undertaken any fund raising since 2009, and am hoping that you may consider putting your hand in your pocket for this one.
In 2018 my mother was taken to hospital after her lung collapsed. Following weeks of tests and time on the ward, news came that she had this form of cancer. Surgery and Chemotherapy followed and fortunately the illness was caught early. Two years later and she's doing well, with the next phase of treatment due to start soon.
Help me help her and many other patients in her situation. I am sure the trails between Salisbury and Winchester will be tough (and with this weather, wet!), the furthest I have ever run, however, if I reach the target, I will pledge to do a solo double ultra-marathon before the end of the year.
