Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page - a little bit of background info for you:

Who are we?

We are Annelise & Steve Glew, also know as the DD's (Dynamic Duo) to the BJ's, husband and wife who live in the Highlands of Scotland, love the outdoors, going on adventures, and our cats.

26/4/10 ... Sadly my Dad lost his fight with MND and peacefully passed away in the morning.

25/4/10 ... Managed to fly down! Annelise made it in 5:01:35; Steve in 3:57:00

19/4/10 .... Will we be flying or won't we? Glad we decided to go down early least it gives us a chance to relax before Race Day if we have to drive down - think we might have to change the Proclaimers "500 miles" song to "600 miles" instead but seems appropriate! Couple more short runs to do, then it's relax and then the BIG DAY. It's the journey back up that might be the longest .........

4/4/10 ... Well - only 3 weeks to go now - we went out to do the Portmahomack 10k as a wee training run - Steve had never done it before either ... Annelise managed a Personal Best of 55:26 (prev 58:05) so she was happy and Steve got round in a respectable 46:17.

There was also an article in the Sherborne Western Gazette (1st April) about Annelise & her Dad.

What is MND?

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones.
Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing.

Why MND?

In November 2008, having come back from our Honeymoon, we found out that Annelise's Dad had been diagnosed with MND (ALS), since then things have changed a bit. In the past year her parents have had to move back to the UK and a few house alterations have been made as her Dad's condition progresses.

When Annelise found out  she vowed that she would run the London Marathon for MND, at that time she'd never run further than a 1/2 Marathon! But having tested the waters with the Moray Marathon last September and managed to gain Club (Ross County Athletics) place for this years London Marathon knows that from now on any race will be for MND and her Dad.

Steve already had a place for the London Marathon, deferred from 2009, but had already decided that he wanted to run for MND so it seemed like another great adventure for the DD's that was close to our hearts

Our initial target is £720 each for the Marathon but would love to raise much more in the years to come in the races and other adventures that we may come up with!
