Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I played at Blaby and Whetstone BC as a boy and a teenager (see photo!) and have some very happy memories from those years. I want to be able to give something back to the club and will be running Leicester's Big 10k at Abbey Park on 19th April to raise as much money as possible towards their new facility, which will benefit the local community in Blaby and Whetstone.
Some information from the club:
"We provide young people with leisure and recreational activities, encourage social interaction and help develop life and social skills. We offer a safe place to relax, away from any involvement in anti-social behaviour and drug abuse. Our club is a secure environment where young people can build confidence and self-esteem by taking part in skill building, sports, arts and crafts, team building, day trips and fundraising activities.
We are aiming to raise £200k to install a 4G football facility. We have many different users and projects currently using our club for sport. As advocates of grass roots football, we provide training sessions
and games for many different age groups: from Mini Kickers age 3 to 10, two girls' teams, and teams ranging from age 6 to seniors. In addition to football, we have our SEND Group and D&H Day Services: 18-25 year olds and adults respectively, who have various levels of disability or special needs, and are encouraged to take part in physical activity to develop co-ordination, motor function, and help address weight management.
We have also hosted Leicestershire FA Disability Recreational Football matches - and with a better facility we aim to have a team representing Blaby & Whetstone FC."
Thank you for your support!
