At the end of September I'm off to Nepal for a spot of mountaineering/trekking and thought it would be a great opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause in the process.
Sunsar Maya is a great charity that provides educational opportunities to better the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children in Nepal. Not only do they support the children academically but they also offer the emotional and physical support they need to grow out of their circumstances and be successful in life. On my trip I'll be attempting to summit Island peak at an elevation of 6,189m. To do this I'll be meeting up with a expedition team in Chukhung then leaving the Everest base camp trail heading east for 5 days to Island peak. After that I'll rejoin the Everest base camp trail and head to Everest base camp (5,364m elevation). Then if all goes well I'll continue round to do the 3 passes trek. Hopefully I can get all that done in 4 weeks as long as the weather doesn't cause too many problems. I've been training for this for about 6 months now and can't wait to get out there!
