Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a team who all work at Dean's in Huntly, Aberdeenshire and there are 8 of us doing this challenge............ hence.................

Dean's Activ8!

The team name came from a quick brainstorming session we had and was suggested by Heather, nice one.

Dean's have taken part a few fund raising events over the years but this year we wanted to take on something which would be a bit more challenging and that is how we ended up choosing one of Marie Curie's mountain challenges.

Dean's Activ8 really appreciate you taking the time to visit our JustGiving page, please give what you can, any amount will be fantastic.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

28/04/11 - Just quickly wanted to say a big thank you on behalf of the team to all those who have made donations so far. We really appreciate your support, thank you all very much. Please spread the word to others who may wish to donate to this most worthy of causes. - Les (for Dean's Activ8).

02/05/2011 - Hi, just to let everyone know the car boot fund raising is going exceptionally well and we have a lovely sunny day here in Huntly for it. The shortbread is selling fast! Our thanks go to Liz and Sandra who are running the sale for us and also to Amanda (member of the Dean's Activ8 team) who is also helping run the stall. I visited them all earlier and they are doing a tremendous job.

02/05/2011 - Hi again, just another update on today's car boot fund raiser. We have today raised.........................£1,594.00 at this event!

I can't thank people enough for coming along and buying from our stand, every penny goes into the pot for Marie Curie. At risk of repeating myself a very BIG thank you goes to Liz, Sandra, Amanda, Jeff and Yvonne for all their help today, you have been brilliant.

I think I'm going to have to revise the target but let's just enjoy the moment for now.

03/05/2011 Ok target is revised to £5,000 so lots to collect still and our thanks to everyone who has donated this far.

11/07/2011 Hi folks, it's been a while since i last updated here but we are still training hard and collecting as many donations as we can. Just to say thanks again to everyone who has donated so far. We are well on our way to our new target.

We have added a couple on new pictures of the team from yesterday's walk on the Gordon way, it is 11.5 miles over mixed terrain and was a good test of our fitness levels but is half the distance of the main event on the 30th of July!

Please keep the donations coming as it is for a very good cause.

02/08/11 - WE'VE DONE IT!

We are happy to report that on Saturday night the Dean's Activ8 team managed to complete the challenge. The entire team finished the challenge on what turned out to be one of the nicest days of the year. Many of us are still recovering from our injuries, sustained in completing the full 23 miles of the walk.

We want to thank everyone for their generous donations so far but please don't stop giving as we will accept donations for a while yet.

We have also burst through our revised target of £5000 and could not be more grateful to all who have helped us achieve this, thank you so much.

You can see an article on the day of the walk, with some pictures, on our blog:  www.deansshortbread.com
