The Dear Toby Trust is a charity dedicated to helping children with rare cancers by funding research into new treatment.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our page. We are a team of friends who are all running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 9th October to raise money for this amazing small charity. The Dear Toby Trust was set up in memory of Toby Hambrook-Skinner, and raises money to find kinder cures and treatments for children with cancer.

Toby sadly died of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in 2017 having undergone a very aggressive six month treatment protocol at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Despite being in remission, he relapsed after four months and there were very few treatment options available to him other than the most aggressive chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant, all of which were incredibly painful for Toby. The charity is currently funding exciting research into CAR T cell therapy in AML, something that is very successful in treating ALL, a different type of leukaemia. It is a treatment Toby so desperately needed but couldn't have.

The Dear Toby Trust works very closely with doctors at Great Ormond Street Hospital and every penny raised goes into the charity and towards the cause it supports. No child should face what Toby faced and we hope together we can build a brighter, kinder future for children facing a cancer diagnosis.

Verity, Toby's mummy, is running with a team of amazing friends including Sibby Hill, Lucy Milnes, Katie Woodward, Karen Leeson, Erin Peck, Effie Oram, Rose Tuckey, Lizzie Tuckey and Toby's godfather Nikil Suchak. It is the first time the charity has had an official place in an event so please sponsor us and help us mark this milestone.
