I have decided/forced/tricked/cajoled into entering a 24 hour swimming relay in what will, undoubtedly, be a very cold lake.

I doubt it will be fun, but it is for charity, why else would anyone do this. Let's not forget that even before the awful unpleasantness of the event its self I will have to spend countless freezing evenings immersed in cold quarries simply to develop the requisite fitness to not die during this event.
