I'm Walking 100 Miles in May for Nightsafe!, 23 April 2021
This year Nightsafe will continue with all our vital work supporting homeless young people in Blackburn with Darwen and across East Lancashire. Every penny you donate helps us to secure our services.

Story

In October 2021 we rescued Bella, a gorgeous little puppy who was living with her 7 siblings in Paralimni Dog Pound in Cyprus. She’s a complete dolly mixture, no fancy breeds in our little pup, but she’s the light of our lives.

Since Bella joined our family, I've become much more active, which has been so good for my physical and mental health during lockdown. This made me reflect on the mental health of others who aren’t as fortunate as the majority of us. What about people who have no family, no prospects ... no home? No hope?

Because of this Bella and I have decided to try to raise a few £'s for Nightsafe Blackburn by challenging ourselves to walk 100 miles in April. Not kilometres ... MILES! To achieve this we pledge to go for walks before work, at lunchtime and after work every day, plus walks at the weekends too. A huge commitment when you're working full time, but with your support I reckon we can do it.

We’ll do the hard work, all we ask is that you support us by sponsoring us a few pounds. Every single £1 counts. Homelessness is NOT a choice, it could happen to any one of us. So please, be a Good Samaritan and sponsor us. Thank you 🙏🏻

About Nightsafe Blackburn

Due to COVID-19 Nightsafe have had fundraising events cancelled and funding streams postponed. Their £100K appeal is to ensure they continue with their vital work supporting homeless young people. Every penny donated helps to secure their service. At this most crucial time they are asking our community to support them now more than ever.

This is how your donations will help Nightsafe support young, local homeless people:

Platform 5 Day Centre and Emergency Night Shelter:

  • £2:50 would provide daytime support for a homeless young person for 1 week
  • £5:00 would provide a young person with 3 meals a day
  • £5:00 would provide each young person with their own personal hygiene pack
  • £10:00 would provide one emergency food and hygiene parcel for a young person
  • £20:00 would double our Daycentre weekly food budget
  • £40.00 would provide a young person with a safe bed for 1 night

Housing Projects:

  • £5:00 would provide a young person with 3 meals a day
  • £15:00 would provide a young person with 1-1 support and guidance for one week
  • £20:00 would provide home schooling for a young person for one week

If for whatever reason you're unable to donate at this time, please help by sharing. Thank you 🙏🏻 xx
