Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

When I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in January 2010 I thought the end of my world had come. Through it all, you: my wonderful friends and family, supported me in so many ways and for that I will never be able to thank you enough.

Medical research and the amazing Oncology team at the Sussex Cancer Centre, Brighton gave me my health back but equally as important was the Odyssey team who gave me "ME" back!

The psycholocigal effects of cancer and its treatment had stripped me of my self-confidence and belief. I was, without doubt, lost. But then in July 2011 at undisclosed locations in deepest Kent, surrounded by some amazing fellow cancer sufferers and the incredible people who act as volunteers for Odyssey, I found Debs again! She was older; wiser and a bit battle scarred but she was still up for a challenge and a laugh and that's exactly what she got!

There are no words that can thank Odyssey enough but what I CAN do is raise funds to ensure that others can benefit from this wonderful experience. It costs £1000 for each participant to attend the 5 day adventure. Courses are run in Kent; West Midlands and Scotland. There are many more people being put forward by Macmillan and Oncology teams than there are places for.

On 20th October 2012, Ellie and I will set off with a team of Odyssey fund raisers aiming to walk approximately 100km of the Sahara in only 5 days. It's a big ask, but with your help in the past, I have faced worse.

Please sponsor me (I'm paying for my place on the trip so all money will go to Odyssey) and help to create more opportunities for others to benefit as I have done. They may never be able to thank you in person but believe me, they will never forget the experience and for those who are staring death in the face, you will be giving them the chance to remember that there is still more living to be done.

Thank you
