Polar Bear Challenge · 1 November 2020

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As a "PENGUIN" in this challenge, I have been training every week since the summer to acclimatise for this 5 month Winter swimming challenge from November to March. As well as swimming every week I also have to complete a minimum of 2 x 200m Open Water swims each month. These will mainly be in our local lake at Pickmere. I have completed the first 2 swims in November and the water temperature is a chilly 9 degrees and falling!

I have been a volunteer puppy trainer for the past 2 years assisting in training the gorgeous Mowgli. Hearing Dog puppies are changing lives so raising money for Hearing Dogs is my way of supporting the charity.

Hearing Dogs receive no central government funding so rely heavily on donations and fundraising. It costs £40,000 to train and support a dog throughout it's journey from birth to puppy to the end goal, a partnership with a deaf person.

Any donation, no matter what size, will help me raise money for this fantastic charity.

Thank You
