Story
Please can you donate to this charity. Even £1 will help us. The pandemic has really hit our charity hard. We're still being deployed and helping our local community but we rely solely on donations and our funds are extremely low due to cancelled fundraising events and lock-downs.
The SARAID Community Resilience Team provides support and assistance helping the community in times of need. Deployments can range from setting up a rest centre for residents after a major incident to patrolling local waterways ensuring vulnerable persons don't enter the water. We will also give advice to persons cycling too close to the water's edge and to individuals enjoying a night out, so they make it home safely without falling into the water.
Other deployments in the last 12 months have included volunteering at the Covid Vaccination Centre. We’ve also worked alongside Bristol Water and other services to distribute water to families after a water main burst during the summer and just before Christmas.
Each call-out is different and all our members need complex training to be able to confidently handle any situation they encounter. Our training is a combination of classroom and simulation-based training. Therefore, we need resources we can train with and to use on deployment.
We are always fundraising to ensure we have resources ranging from PPE (to keep everyone safe), training materials for our classroom and operations room, to items like fake blood and mannequins to simulate injured casualties. We also have flood and water rescue equipment which we are keen to add to and maintain.
Your donation will help provide training, development, and deployment resources to ensure we can continue helping our community in times of need.
