Story
So... I didn't think that I wanted to run a marathon... like.... ever! I was happy with having run a half marathon, but have been motivated to try and do more to support our wonderful local charity Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
As an oncologist I see the the huge difference that their support makes to the care of my patients.
I have been training and have finally signed up for the Manchester Marathon which is on the 16th April 2023 and I am very grateful for all support.
Rosemere's aim is to work in partnership with local clinical staff to achieve the best possible care for cancer patients in Lancashire and South Cumbria, wherever they are treated.
Rosemere seeks to do this by:
- Funding cutting edge equipment to help clinicians remain at the forefront of the fight against cancer.
- Supporting innovative ways to take the fear out of cancer for patients and their families during treatment, making it as comfortable and stress free as possible.
- Backing local research projects that help improve our understanding of cancer and how it can be better diagnosed and treated.
- Facilitating top quality training help clinical staff treating cancer patients to be the very best they can be.
Recent examples of Rosemere's funding includes the introduction of Surface Guided Radiotherapy to the Rosemere Cancer Centre through it's £1.3m appeal and complete refurbishment of the Ribblesdale Ward to which Rosemere contributed over £1m
