Story
Please see below the reason I am doing the walk. This is my best pal and an inspiration!!
My name is Julie.
In July 2020 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I knew nothing about ovarian cancer and the last three and a bit years has been a rollercoaster ride as well as a huge learning curve.
My cancer was diagnosed at a late stage which sadly is the case with a lot of women because there is no reliable early testing available and many of the symptoms are easily mistaken for other things like, for example, IBS, UTI’s, menopause, which delays diagnosis significantly.
My cancer is incurable but treatable and I feel incredibly lucky that ongoing research has allowed me to gain access to different treatments which has given me and women like me the chance to live longer with this disease.
However, there is still a lot to learn about ovarian cancer and the survival rates are way behind other cancers.
March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness month and Ovarian Cancer Action are launching Walk in Her Name 2024.
Debs is going to walk 100km in March to help raise awareness and funds that will have a life-changing impact, by helping to improve early diagnosis, funding life-saving research and providing much needed support to everyone with ovarian cancer.
Please give what you can.
