Story

Calcutta Rescue Fund raises funds and supports the work of Calcutta Rescue in India providing free healthcare, education, vocational training and sanitation so that families and whole communities living in the slums in and around Kolkata have a chance to lift themselves out of poverty.Kavi's Walk 20 kms along the Thames Path in London - is an annual event celebrating the life of one of the charity's young supporters, Kavi Varsani, who died of Covid at the start of the pandemic. In 2018 Kavi did a sponsored walk for the charity along the same route. All the money raised from the walk will go to fund Calcutta Rescue's core programmes helping thousands of people living in poverty in Kolkata and West Bengal.

I was fortunate enough to have visited Kolkata in 2001 and saw first hand the work done in the street clinics and schools. I was inspired to study medicine because of Dr Jack Pregers remarkable work .
