Story

Famed for its wide, stunning views and treacherous shifting sands, on Saturday June 10th 2023 we will be guided by Michael Wilson- the official guide of the Guide over Sands Trust - across the 8 miles from Arnside to Grange over Sands. The walk is on varied terrain including sections of sand, shingle, pebbles, rock and salt marsh. The last part of the walk over the salt marsh involves crossing gullies, these can be quite wide and slippery. This challenging walk takes about four hours depending on the route. The walk involves crossing two river channels which are cold and sometimes fast flowing, the height of the river is usually between knee and thigh deep. The scenery will be spectacular and the challenge powerful. The Kidneys for Life team will be walking on the day to cheer and encourage all the way! The money raised by this amazing event will provide vital funds for vital research that hopefully one day will mean kidneys actually last a lifetime.
