Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For those of you that know me well, you will realise that taking part in the Great North Run is a huge challenge for me as I have never been much of a runner! I wanted to do something that would be a challenge whilst raising money for a fantastic charity, Dravet Syndrome UK.

I wanted to choose a charity that was not well known and as my friends daughter is diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome I felt this was one way I could offer my support and also raise awareness of the support the charity provides.

Dravet Syndrome is a catastrophic neurological condition causing severe seizures alongside other conditions such as learning disability, ataxia and autism. The charity is dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults living with Dravet Syndrome through medical research, education and awareness and family support. Every penny raised goes towards meeting these three aims and truly does make a difference, for example, £150 pays for a video monitor for one family and £600 pays for an epilepsy monitor mattress, both of which allow families a way of monitoring Dravet children and adults throughout the night which can prove life saving.
