Story

Hello there everyone.  I hope you and your families are well during these most difficult times.

You will have heard a lot about how charities are currently struggling, and I'd like to ask for your support for MAG (Mines Advisory Group), a charity I have supported for the last five years.

Every day, in conflict affected countries, 19 people are killed or injured by landmines and unexploded bombs.  Half of civilian casualties are children.

Since 2015, I have travelled to Vietnam, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Laos with colleagues from the wholesale and convenience retail sector to try to make it safer for children and families who live there.  In February this year I completed my fifth cycle challenge, riding 600kms through Cambodia from Siem Reap in the north to Kep in the south.

Our team of 29 tackled the heat, humidity, sand, dirt roads and hills to complete the ride in six days.  So far, we have raised £121,000 but we need to reach our team target of £155,000 by the end of June.

I have increased my personal target of £20,000 to help the team donation and anything you can give to help the team get over the line would be very gratefully received.  It will mean that over 230,000 square metres of land can be made safe in Cambodia so that communities can plant crops, walk to school, get to water and live their lives free from fear.

Together we would destroy over 7,750 bombs for good.

In these uncertain times, it's good to do something which will help to make the world a more peaceful place.

Thank you.

About the campaign

A team of 33 superheroes from the convenience retail and wholesale sector are taking to their bikes for the 5th and final time to raise awareness and life-saving funds for MAG's work. The will cycle through extreme heat to cross Cambodia in six days.

About the charity

Every single day, 15 people are killed or injured because of landmines and other explosive weapons. Half of all civilian casualties are children. MAG finds and destroys these weapons to save lives and rebuild futures; helping people to grow crops, attend school and build homes.
