Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in aid of the Mater Foundation. Without their life saving work, myself and many others wouldn't be here.
On November 15, 2016, my life changed forever when I had open heart surgery to replace my mitral heart valve. Since then, through the heroic work of the staff of St. Cecilia's Ward at the Mater Hospital and my family, I've been making a good recovery.
While I was there, I saw first hand the help not only I received, but also that others received - the new leases of life from transplants and the hope that prevailed throughout the ward. They say that not all superheroes wear capes - ours wear blue surgical scrubs and nurses uniforms.
These people help my hand through the fear and darkness of serious illness and guided me through, for that, I cannot be more grateful. Somewhere in Ireland, right now, there's a person facing into what I faced into two weeks ago - and there will be many more. Now, I want to give back as much as I can to this most worthy cause. I cannot do this on my own and I need your help to do so. I appreciate you all have lots of constraints on your finances, but please do give whatever you can. In the new year, we will be having some fundraising events and I hope, together, we can get to €5000.00 to help those who have yet to talk this journey.
Please, please, please give what you can.
