Story

I am the Income Generation and Marketing Manager for Dorset Mind, and I enjoyed taking part in RED January 2018 - I intend to do so again, as a means to improve my wellbeing and focus on a realistic challenge in a notoriously tough month.

Since 1946, Dorset Mind has been a pioneering mental health charity that educates, challenges stigma and inequality and promotes recovery from mental ill health. It empowers individuals of all ages to understand the recovery process and assists them to develop resilience.

The charity is at the heart of shaping futures and changing lives. Dorset Mind provides thirteen recovery and resilience-focused support groups across Dorset that are aimed at educating people about the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and support people to identify and develop new coping skills.

They also run an accredited one-to-one befriending programme designed to help people regain confidence and social skills. The content of their services and support groups are both preventative and restorative.

The charity works in partnership with local decision makers and influential organisations to encourage social inclusion and improve mental health services to meet the rising demands of the local community.
